Bonus Episode 003 – Our Characters

In which Vox and Mr. Johnson, due to some schedule restrictions, throw any semblance of a script right out the window and devote an hour to talking about their own Shadowrun characters. Per listener request, of course!

  1. Hey, didn’t have the chance to catch up for a while and was enjoying your newest episodes while training. So much fun to listen at. Now I really want to build new shadowrun characters (and add them to my existing bunch of … ugh, I dunno how many, really). πŸ™‚

Thanks a lot for the reminder for Shadowrun Online. I never figured out that SRO and SR:Returns were different games up until now. o.O I just had to donate.

And, how’s your novel going, Vox? πŸ˜‰

    Liebe Grüße aus Deutschland,
    Fox

    1. Thanks! Glad it was helpful! The novel’s going… well.. let’s just call it “cooking” in my subconscious for now while I focus on other stories. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for asking!

  2. Thanks for this. I tend to agonize over character generation, and like to see how other people approach this.

I find it interesting that you two seemed to develop your characters in almost opposite ways. Mr. Johnson had a full, intricate background for Shade already in his mind, and chose attributes and skills based off of that background (even “retconning” points in Arcana to fit his upbringing). Vox, on the other hand, started with a vague idea of what to play (adept face), and developed the crunch first, then went back and used the numbers to help flesh out the background. I found this interesting because in many ways Vox’s character was a bit of a mystery, and she kinda had to “get to know her” as the campaign went on.

    1. Thanks – glad you liked the episode. πŸ™‚ It was fun to go through how we came up with our characters: I think we all have had characters for whom the story popped out of the ether right off the bat, and others we’ve had to coax out. And the ones we have to coax are an ongoing project. I’m still getting to know Vox in-game.

  3. “They’re all muggles” LOVE this. ( I work at a religious non-profit, that is about as “muggle” as you can get.)
